FLY TIPPING – Fines & Imprisonment Information

Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of rubbish, such as furniture, rubble or any household items on public and private land.

Fly-tipping is a criminal offence punishable by a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment if convicted in a Magistrates’ Court. The offence can attract an unlimited fine and up to 5 years imprisonment if convicted in a Crown Court.

If you are disposing of rubbish, please make sure that the contractor is a registered  waste carrier and that you get confirmation that the rubbish has been delivered to a registered waste transfer station.

AB Clearance Services are registered waste carriers and only use authorised waste transfer stations. We would, irrespectively of the choice to engage our services or not, strongly discourage the use of unlicensed/uncertified waste carriers.
Many local authorities will be less able to deal with underhand practices such as Fly-Tipping, which are detrimental to the environment and hazardous to the community at large.
